Was thrilled to do another film review for Scenestr and a little nervous given it was a horror film and in recent years I’ve leaned away from those but if I want to keep the dream alive of this being some sort of career I have to be prepared to see and review all kinds of films. Fortunately for me A Quiet Place is a really interesting film that is not just interested in gore and jump scares. You can read my review here http://scenestr.com.au/movies-and-tv/a-quiet-place-review-20180405
Produced by Eyeball Media Enterprises, Scenestr is an online national magazine with local offices around Australia. Celebrating 25 years in 2018 of publishing history they’ve excelled at moving into the digital realm but they remain at heart from the streets. They still publish magazines in print for Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane every month. If you’re into music they’re a great read but they do cover all of the arts including festivals, stand-up comics, fashion, theatre and film. I feel very fortunate to get to write for them.

I’ve been quite looking forward to this one.
Well I hope you enjoy it mate.
Hmmmm…. Zombies or aliens?
I guess aliens but its never explained, maybe it’s an awakened beast from the depths like Godzilla.
I imagine not knowing is all the more frightening. The unknown is always more frightening than that which is known.
True dat Allen. 🙂
Hope you had a good Easter mate.
Nicely balanced review, Lloyd. I quite fancy this film, but it isn’t showing locally, so I will have to wait for the DVD.
Best wishes, Pete.
Mate that isn’t showing locally?! Just what films are showing?
All kiddy stuff for the Easter break. (Like Peter Rabbit) A Quiet Place is on in Norwich, 20 miles away. But I can’t be bothered with the journey, and trying to park in the multi-storey.
Fair enough.
Must be a small cinema. 😦
Three screens, all with ‘family films’ at the moment. 🙂
That’s a real shame. Even with 3, one should provide an alternative. What are the teenagers going to watch but I suppose they’re watching everything on their phones. 🙂
I just found out that the local flea-pit is showing the film next week. I am going to try and go and see it. 🙂
Man the pressure is on now. I would be more inclined to give a recommendation during Oscar season. Still it’s a good film for me and you’ve shown interest so I hope you enjoy. 🙂
When you see it, I hope you enjoy it.
Isn’t this just the worst film to eat popcorn during???
It was about an hour in when I started munching through mine during a lull. I have been told some crowds wouldn’t even then for fear of alerting the monsters. 🙂
Maybe that’s why Beetleypete wanted to wait til it was available on home viewing 😉 haha. It certainly is very different to the films at the moment. Glad it’s been doing well.
Just returned to the No.1 spot at the U.S. box office. Won’t be there next week. 🙂
Nice review. I really bought into this movie. Very instense and involving I thought.
I have to agree Vinnie and thank you for the kind words. I heard there is a sequel being planned. When things make money eh?…
A sequel could be interesting.
